Why I dislike Cucumber - BDD differently

At the end of last year we started using BDD process at Masabi as part of our future continuous delivery system. We are using Cucumber as probably the most popular BDD framework.
With some Specs2 experience (at Strollimo), I shortly realised, I do not like Cucumber because of:
  1. The feature files
  2. The global step definitions
  3. The missing feature scope
  4. Tooling: Junit integration, runner, maven integration, test separation

Spock Presentation and Demo

Today I gave a presentation and demo at Masabi about Spock testing framework. I was inspired by Rob Fletcher to create this presentation but I changed his original vending machine demo with a much more simple one.

The code is available on GitHub: https://github.com/bsudy/SpockDemo

Integration testing ReactiveMongo

During the development of Moresby Stroll I had to solve the testing of our data access layer. Moresby Stroll Server uses Akka Actors as a base of its architecture, therefore the data access layer is implemented by an Actor, the DataAccessActor.

DataAccessActor is responsible to provide all the persistence functionality what the business logic and higher layers require. Let's take a look at the DataAccessActor.
